14 Days Green Season (High End)

Unique Safaris’ philosophy and standards- NEW SET ITINERARIES

We have established our reputation by providing outstanding guiding and highly personalized customer service. Unique Safaris has been a licensed Tanzanian Tour Operator since 1990. We are considered an elite tour operator that provides private custom-designed itineraries but we are now expanding our services to also offer set itineraries that have been designed with a great budget and locations that offer optimal wildlife viewing for 6-14 days of safari. Our itinerary options are listed either as adventure pricing; mid-budget pricing and higher-end pricing.

Our set itineraries can be booked exactly as written or with any changes to accommodations if you care to upgrade your lodging. Our commitment is to provide our same outstanding guiding and customer service but now at various budget levels. The locations for each itinerary have been selected based on the yearly wildlife movement in the various parks and an adequate game drive distance to maximize wildlife with a degree of privacy. We believe the primary reason for guests to visit Tanzania is to enjoy the wildlife so accommodations have been selected for their locations and the adventure you can experience with wildlife. Our set itineraries are also based on a belief that all wildlife is exquisite to witness, understand and photograph. Only wildebeest and zebra migrate with weather; all other wildlife keeps their territories or remain in certain habitats so there is great adventure anywhere you go!

The itineraries offered are still private safaris and they are not group departures dependent upon a certain number of participants in order to happen. And as always, we continue to create custom-designed itineraries at your request.

All pricing includes:

  • All accommodations as shown in the set itinerary (upgrades can be arranged at additional cost)
  • All meals from dinner upon arrival to dinner upon departure

Lemala Mpingo Ridge – FB
Activities/Travel

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire (2 hours), Tanzania’s 3rd largest national park and considered its most scenic with huge baobab trees and acacia dotted hills. Although this is not peak season for mammals and predators (there is ample water and grass in the surrounding conservation land and no need to migrate into the park until dry season), the park remains fantastic for birds and elephants. There are more than 3,000 resident individuals, usually offering some of your closest encounters with elephants on the northern circuit. The park is also famous for leopard and lion, but the higher grass during this month makes it more difficult to spot predators. There are 650 recorded species of bird in Tarangire during this time of the year, with especially good sightings of raptors and hornbills.

Day 3

Thereafter, stop along the way in the village of Mto wa Mbu to experience a local market and learn from your driver guides about the unique cultural and tribal make-up of this village. Mto wa Mbu is famous for a large variety of bananas and a locally grown rice, which is often favored in Arusha town. Picnic lunch along the way and visit the school + tea plantation in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Stopping along the way to visit Oldupai Gorge, the site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s famous archeological discoveries as well as the maasai village by Olduvai. Continue into the Serengeti to register and then game drive as you travel to your lodge with picnic lunch enroute. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Location
Serengeti Centra
Accommodation
Melia Serengeti - FB
Activities/Travel

This central area of the Serengeti is home to the many leopards, giraffe, buffalo and cats of all kinds. This area is known as the long grass plains and attracts different animals at this time of the year. Meals and overnight.

Day 7

Location
Serengeti Southern
Accommodation
Kusini Camp – FB
Activities/Travel

This is a wonderful time to visit the Serengeti, as the wildebeest calving should be well underway, provided the short rains have been normal. At this time of the year, the large wildebeest and zebra herds have migrated along the eastern edge of the park (Gol Mountains) for the new growth of the short grass plains. This new grass is rich in calcium and magnesium, essential for the calving process. Almost 750,000 female wildebeest drop their babies within a 3-week period of time, so the spectacle is amazing and predator/prey activity is high.

Accommodation
Crater Lodge – FB
Activities/Travel

Full day down in the Crater with a picnic lunch. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unflooded caldera in the world and is home to some of the last black rhino found in Tanzania. The Crater is also famous for its very old bull elephants, with some of the largest tuskers left in the country. The forests of the Crater are not large enough to support the cow/calf herds, but the males find the swamps and forest a true haven. Large prides of lion and the densest population of hyena in all of Africa make the Crater a unique blend of wildlife and bird life.
