Elephants in Tarangire

July 22, 2013 Tanzania Elephant Herd | Unique Safaris

This large group of elephants was observed marching on their way to Silale Swamp in Tarangire National Park. The park experiences its own migration of herd animals during the dry season in the southern and central Serengeti (July – October) when elephants, zebras, wildebeests and antelopes of all kinds migrate from the Great Rift Valley and surrounding conservation areas for water located in the park. Nearly 3,500 elephants arrive at the park to join up with the 3,000 elephants that call Tarangire home throughout the year. The volume of elephants per kilometer is said to be the largest than anywhere else in the world.
